How to Display the Zendesk Chat Widget Only on Specified Pages

Step 1: Adding the Zendesk Chat widget to your website. If you have already done this, skip over to Step 2.

1a. Log in to your Zendesk Chat-enabled user account, click the four squares at the top right of the page. Then click Chat

1b. Once you are in the Zendesk Chat Dashboard, click Settings then Widget. You should see the Zendesk Widget code snippet here.

1c. Copy this code snippet, and paste it in between the <head> and </head> sections of your website's html file. If your website is hosted by Shopify, scroll down to the section that begins with the header "If your shop website is hosted by Shopify..."

2a. Copy the Simplr Script code snippet provided below.

2b. Paste the Simplr code snippet right after the Zendesk Widget code snippet, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 3. Provide your contact at Simplr with a list of URL paths where you want or do not want ("whitelist" vs. "blacklist") the Zendesk Chat widget to be displayed. We will input these URL paths in our system to enable the desired blacklist/whitelist request.

Reminder of popular Examples of chat-blacklisted pages:
i. https://example.com/login
ii. https://example.com/FAQ
iii. https://example.com/products/returns
Alternatively, some partners provide us with a whitelist if they want the chat widget to display only on a few specific pages:
i. https://example.com/products
ii.
https://example.com/checkout
iii.
https://example.com/cart

Please note that the non-chat Zendesk widget that is meant for purposes like Help Support or Offline Forms will remain active on pages you choose to blacklist for the Chat widget.

If your shop website is hosted by Shopify, follow these instructions to add the Zendesk Chat widget and Simplr Blacklist script.

B. From the Themes page, click Actions, then Edit code.

C. Scroll down the left panel and click the Add new snippet button.

D. Name the snippet zendesk-chat-widget-custom.liquid. Paste the Zendesk Widget script, followed by the Simplr code snippet, as shown in the screenshot below. Then click Save.

E. Provide your contact at Simplr with a list of URL paths where you want or do not want ("whitelist" vs. "blacklist") the Zendesk Chat widget to be displayed. We will input these URL paths in our system to enable the desired blacklist/whitelist request.
